Button Sewing Tip

Tip for sewing on buttons – before you start to sew on a button, especially on a winter coat or heavy fabric, insert a spacer under the button between the holes.  I used a cuticle stick here.  Then sew the button on like you normally would.  When you are done, remove the spacer.  Your button will be spaced just a little further from the garment, but it will still be secure.  This gives the button a little “slack” or “wiggle room” when you button up your coat  or garment.  There will not be quite so much tension on the button and the thread wil not break as easily.  If your like me, re-sewing on buttons that come loose is not you favorite chore.
