Brownies – Added Ingredient Gives Added Goodness

In a hurry?  Unless you tell, no one will ever know you didn’t spend hours in the kitchen slaving over these brownies. The added ingredient gives these brownies just the right “chocolaty” taste to compete with the best “scratch” recipe, and makes them deliciously moist.

I’ve said before, I’m a working girl by necessity.  I love the challenge of “made-from-scratch” goodies, but, sometimes you need to whip up something in a hurry.  Here’s your solution.

I use a brownie box mix (it’s okay – some days you need to take a shortcut). (Continue reading below for quick, easy clean up tip also.)  These brownies were for a ladies’ meeting I’m attending, but since I made a double batch, I couldn’t resist having a couple with my coffee. Had to make sure they were good enough to share.  One taste and I would like to have kept the whole bunch for myself.

Directions

One package of your favorite brownie mix.  (Honestly, I use the least expensive kind I can find.  This just happened to be on sale.)

Mix according to directions on box

Add 1/2 cup (heaping) of chocolate chips (Your favorite kind – milk chocolate, semi- sweet, etc.  Again I buy the least expensive.)

Bake according to directions on the box.  No extra time required for the added chocolate chips.

Cool completely

Frost with your favorite chocolate frosting (in a hurry – canned frosting is fine), or sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Lift out of pan.  I use my pizza cutter to cut into nice even squares.

Clean-Up Tip

Just in case you’ve never done this, lining your baking pan with parchment paper (or wax paper) really saves a lot of clean up time.  Tear off one piece of parchment paper to fit the length of your pan and one piece to fit the width of your pan.  No need to grease the pan.  Press those down and then pour your batter into the pan.  After your brownies (or whatever you’re making) cools, take the ends of the parchment and lift out the baked goodies.  You can see from my pan above, I only had to wipe it with a damp cloth.
